Shaelin Warner (Agricultural and Medical Biotechnology) and Hailey Anderson (Equine Science and Management) attended the American Association of Veterinary Parasitologists (AAVP) conference from June 10-13, 2023, and entered the best poster presentation in a tough field with mostly much more experienced Ph.D. students - and won first place!
Shaelin and Hailey collaborated on a project investigating methods for diagnosing equine tapeworms this past semester. This is an often underdiagnosed parasite of clinical importance in horses, and there are rising concerns over possible drug resistance developing. This emphasizes the need for good diagnostics, and this project helped move the goal post on this topic!
